About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Java Tech Lead to drive the technical design, development, deployment, and
delivery of scalable, high-performance enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on
expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems, along with proven experience
leading engineering teams and driving technical decisions. Hands-on experience with AWS and application
deployment is mandatory.
The role requires a strong balance of hands-on development, architecture, technical leadership, mentoring,
deployment/release ownership, and stakeholder management. You will work closely with Product Managers,
Architects, Engineering Managers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable
technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the technical design and development of complex, scalable Java-based applications and platforms.
- Define and drive technical architecture, design patterns, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews and provide guidance on technology selection and implementation
approaches. - Identify technical risks, dependencies, scalability challenges, and performance bottlenecks and drive their
resolution. - Contribute to modernization initiatives, including monolith-to-microservices transformation and cloud adoption,
particularly on AWS.
Software Development
- Design, develop, and review high-quality, scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, Microservices, and distributed systems.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient code.
- Perform detailed code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering and security standards.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis and permanent resolution.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and resource utilization.
Deployment, AWS & Production Support
- Own or contribute hands-on to application deployment across development, testing, staging, and production
environments. - Manage production releases, deployment validation, rollback planning, and release-related troubleshooting.
- Design, deploy, and support applications on AWS; understand relevant AWS services and cloud deployment
patterns. - Work with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration, monitoring, logging, and deployment
automation. - Ensure deployments meet reliability, security, scalability, and availability requirements.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical direction and guidance.
- Conduct regular design/code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
- Support team members in solving complex technical problems and developing their technical capabilities. \
- Participate in technical interviews and contribute to hiring and team-building initiatives.
- Promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Delivery & Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of
projects. - Break down complex requirements into technical tasks and provide effort and implementation estimates.
- Own technical deliverables and ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and
retrospectives. - Communicate technical decisions, project risks, deployment readiness, and progress effectively to technical and
non-technical stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills
- 12+ years of overall experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Java-based software development.
- Strong proficiency in Core Java, Java 8/11/17+, OOP, Collections, Multithreading, Concurrency, and JVM
concepts. - Strong hands-on experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
- Extensive experience developing Microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Strong understanding of Distributed Systems, System Design, and Design Patterns.
- Hands-on experience deploying applications and supporting releases across environments.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with AWS, including deploying, operating, or supporting applications on AWS
cloud services. - Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.
- Good understanding of SQL, database design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience with messaging/event-driven technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Good understanding of CI/CD, Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab, and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of unit testing, integration testing, TDD/BDD, and automated testing practices.
- Experience with application performance monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and production support.

- Exposure to AI/ML integrations or GenAI-based applications.
- Experience with high-scale, high-availability systems.
- Experience driving technology modernization, platform engineering, or large-scale application transformation.
